According to a recent survey, the outbreak of bakanae disease among rice farms in Korea decreased significantly this yearover six years. Bakanae disease began spreading rapidlythe year 2000 after the advent of a resistant strain of bacteria that causes the disease,had spread over the entire nation2005.

The positive speculation follows the announcementthe Gyeonggi Province Agricultural ResearchExtension Services of the results of a survey conducted of 3,200 tons of rice seeds collectedthroughout the nation; this survey revealed that the infection rate has been dramatically reduced to only 0.03%.

Spring vegetables, such as shepherd’s pursemugwort, are very popular among Koreans for their freshness, unique fragrance,potential health benefits.

Are they really good for health? The factthey maybe. Even the same vegetables sold at large supermarkets may be equally hazardous, according to the Gyeonggi HealthEnvironment Research Center.
4) Spring Vegetables Inspection Reveals Residual Agrichemicals
The Gyeonggi HealthEnvironment Research Center has conducted residual agricultural chemical inspections of 131 batches of spring vegetables collecteth department food martstraditional markets in the province,found residual agricultural chemicals in 30 batches. Alarmingly, 5 batches contained agricultural chemical levels higher than the permitted limits.

However, itdifficult to effectively control the use of pesticides or to advance the harvest schedule. Therefore, itimportant for consumers to wash spring vegetable thoroughly before consuming.

Although rare nowadays, the sarangbang (사랑방) still conjures up images of warmthfriendly communication among Koreans. In this spirit, Finance Sarangbang (사랑방) was organizedGyeonggi Province for the purpose of educating individuals with relatively little knowledge about financial techniques so as to enable them to more effectively manage their money.
