On May 17, Gyeonggi Province opened a smart work center on the first floor of its new Gwanggyo complex with the aim of ensuring the work flexibility of its employees.

Designed for the implementation of a smart administrative work system through ICT technology, the smart work center enables employees to perform in-house work such as electronic document creation and video conferences as before.

The 160-square-meter smart work center was created upon the relocation of the provincial government complex. Reflecting employee input, it is equipped with 40 seats, conference rooms, and rest areas. The center also features a real-time desk reservation system, authentication-based cloud printing for enhanced security, and digital boards for paperless meetings.

Gyeonggi Province intends to overcome administrative inefficiencies by reducing the time required for business trips and when interacting with the Korean National Assembly. It also aims to achieve work-and-life balance by promoting a flexible working culture.

Ryu In-kwon, Assistant Governor for Planning and Coordination, said, “The new smart work center will play a major role in improving administrative efficiency in this era of remote work that sees people working without spatial or temporal constraints.”
