Governor Hak-kyu Sohn visited Barcelona, Spain with Gyeonggi-do representatives related to trades, investment and cultural exchange with the US and Europe region on June 26 (local time). This meeting with economists was sponsored by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the active investment induction on projects in Gyeonggi-do was introduced to about 80 influential economists in Catalunya.

Catalunya is the center of the industrial revolution of Spain and takes up 19% of the Spain GDP. Catalunya, the economic leader of Spain is also known as a famous tourist city with 15 million tourists visiting every year. Sohn stressed that he expects the improvement of the actual economic cooperation between both countries as the win-win strategy.

Sohn also introduced the merits of Gyeonggi-do, for its stronghold location next to the world’s largest consumption market, China and also the advanced infra as one of Korea’s Metropolitans. He expressed his gratitude towards the efforts of the economists in Barcelona for the development operations in the Goyang and Ilsan district.

Case studies of Barcelona enterprises coming to the final step of investment through the investment cooperation with Gyeonggi-do were introduced. Sohn requested for progressive investment on the tourist and manufacturing industry in Gyeonggi-do to Catalunya economists.
