– Full Cost Support for Hospitalization of the Disabled of 1st ~ 3rd Degree –
Gyeonggi-do will extend its medical support to the disabled of 3rd degree to lighten their economic and psychological burden for society’s underprivileged people. The current system provides subsidy only to the 1st degree handicapped persons.
The province will fully pay the cost of hospitalization that is currently covered in party by the National Health Insurance. One person can receive the maximum support of KRW2 million per year. The subsidy recipients should be able to prove their status of residency for at least three months at the time of filing. Anybody from a family with the income level of equal to or under 160% of the minimum living cost designated by the government will be eligible.
The province plans to devote KRW2.2 billion of its budget for the project in 2005. The number of beneficiaries is expected to increase approximately by five times from 4,202 to 20,808 covering 33.5% (45,600) of 136,025 qualified subjects including those covered by the current National Life Security Plan. It will be a policy to support the seriously disabled from the low income class.
Qualified people who seek provincial subsidy should submit original copies of the hospital bills and hospitalization confirmations to the county offices of their residence within one month from the release.
