– Gyeonggi International Venture Show 2005 (GIVES 2005) 

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office plans to hold the Gyeonggi International Venture Show 2005 (GIVES 2005) at the KINTEX in Goyang for four days from June 2 with an aim to promote exchanges among promising venture businesses both in and out of Korea and encourage positive competition among them, thus opening business and investment opportunities both at home and abroad. 

The provincial office plans to make all necessary preparations for the eighth annual event to help it secure its position as the largest exhibition for venture businesses in the world under the slogan of Riding the New Waves with the hope that venture businesses based in the province will do well in the technological competition and play a leading role in developing next-generation growth engines 

The GIVES 2005 is expected to be the largest one ever held in the past eight years, with 350-plus promising venture IT, BT, NT businesses both in and out of Korea attending, in addition to more than 100 big-name buyers and about 2,000 foreign visitors from all over the world. 

It is also expected that more than $100 million worth of exports and 10 billion won worth of domestic sales will result from business sessions held during the event. 

Concerning exhibitions, the most important part of the venture business show, the Local Venture Business Pavilion will introduce promising venture businesses developed with the help of administrative units of the provincial office. Other pavilions include the ElectroElectric Business Pavilion, the Information & Telecom Pavilion, the IT Parts/Materials Pavilion, the BT/NT Pavilion and the Overseas Venture Business Pavilion. 

Special events to be held during the GIVES 2005 are: the Visit Gyeonggi Province Year Special Pavilion, the Intelligent Robot Business Pavilion and the Intelligent Robot Contest. 

KINTEX (Korea International Exhibition Center), the site for the GIVES 2005 and the largest exhibition center in Korea, is scheduled to open on April 29. The Gyeonggi Science Festival, the Smart Home Show and the Educational/Human Resources Innovation EXPO, which will be held during the GIVES 2005 event period, are expected to foster an atmosphere conducive to it. 

An official at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office said that the GIVES 2005 would serve as an occasion to encourage venture businesses in the nation to jump forward and advance into world markets.
