-Holding an exhibition of good-quality products of 100 SMEs in Tokyo
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office is holding the Exhibition of Good-Quality Korean-Made Products on April 11 and 12 at the Tokyo Trade Center in Tokyo as part of the effort to advance into the Japanese market.
In the fourth annual event, a total of 100 SMES, including 40 from other metropolises and provinces than Gyeonggi, are participating. For successful results of the event, Gyeoggi Vice Governor Chung Chang-sup started taking preparatory PR activities in November 2004 with the aid from the KITA. Thus, about 1,500 Japanese buyers are expected to attend the session. SMEs which lack capabilities for marketing and collection of information on overseas markets will find it a nice opportunity for export of their goods with the aid from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office.
Looking at types of attending businesses, there are 20 electric/electronic and information technology businesses, 14 agriculture/marine/food businesses, 37 businesses engaged in medical supplies/health and beauty goods/sundries, and 29 machine parts/architectural material businesses. The 100 businesses were selected out of 165 applicants. Some events introducing Korean culture will also be held during the event.
An official at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office said, “Amid the ever-increasing deficit in the nation’s trade with Japan, it is necessary to make positive efforts to make forays into the Japanese market with good-quality products. We will do our best to gain a solid foothold in that market, fully utilizing the current Korean boom among the Japanese, no matter what the current political situation between the two countries may be concerning the Japanese’s renewed claim to Dokdo Islets and distortion of historical facts about the Korea-Japan relations in some textbooks for high school students.”
