The Gyeonggi Provincial Office plans to carry out overall springtime safety check between February 20 and March 17 for a total of 951 places in the province, including construction sites, stone embankments and buildings.
Four Safety Check Teams of the provincial office will carry out the check for 108 places on a sample basis by March 7, first. Then, a total of 120 teams comprised of local officials, private experts and volunteers will carry out the check for 843 places by March 17.
The provincial office will do its best to carry out the check most efficiently through close cooperation between parties concerned, including local residents.
Based on the check, the provincial office will take the following steps: 1) thorough repair/reinforcement work concerning dangerous places, including stone embankments or retaining walls showing the danger of being collapse, having relevant residents informed of possible danger, and restriction of the access to dangerous places and 2) taking necessary preventive measures or punitive measures concerning construction jobsites where safe management is neglected.
As for public facilities that require long-term repair/reinforcement work or relevant budget, the provincial office plans to take the following steps: 1) taking emergency measures to prevent accident, while relevant actions are taken, 2) having relevant private parties carry out the work by providing administrative support, such as helping obtain loans, and 3) giving prompt approval or authorizations for improvement of the status of dangerous facilities.
