Gyeonggi decided to form a temporary TF Team to ease traffic congestion until their currently undergoing network reorganization completes. 

Traffic control TF Team will provide a patrol service for the settlement of a problem on the spot, and will launch a watchdog system among the neighborhood to derive citizen’s participation in the provincial traffic control activities. Also, many other issues regarding traffic conditions with neighboring provinces and cities will be handled by this TF Team.

This will be the very first case introduced by the new provincial governor Kim Munsoo for his pursued on-the-job administration policy.

To give an authority to relieve the issues and problems raised by the traffic congestions within the Metropolitan areas which became the most important pending issue these days, the province has positioned TF Team under the Metropolitan Transportation HQ. Also on July 10, number of patrol cars has been distributed with 4 persons who will be exclusively dealing with the traffic control. All systems were completed for the kick-off with a set up of toll-free number, 080-249-8200.

This team will be targeting for the following issues; regular check-ups on the busy spot of major highways such as national road and local road and the area of illogical conditions, preliminary study on the traffic fluctuation with the local events such as construction work, pottery expo, flower fair and etc., monitoring of the traffic condition changes with the new road, arbitration and mediation for any troubles regarding traffic condition raised between the neighboring provinces and cities, and execution of improvement plan focusing on the on-the-spot voices.

All the areas reported by citizens through toll free call and/or online service system will immediately be inspected in person. After the inspection, each organizations and institutions responsible for each area will proceed the improvement plan; Korea Highway Corporation, Seoul Regional Construction Management Office, Gyeonggi Construction Headquarter, and each provincial and city office are responsible for highway, national road, local road and other roads respectively.

Close cooperation with national highway administrations such as Korea Highway Corporation, Seoul Regional Construction Management Office, Gyeonggi Construction Headquarter, and etc. will be built for a better control on traffic congestion and also Gyeonggi plans to have a mutual assistance system with 31 local cities and counties by forming each cities and counties’ peculiar traffic control TF Team. Other various supportive systems with traffic service worker’s union will be established.

Gyeonggi, on the other hand, will set up other plans to help traffic control such as a plan to improve traffic condition in the northern area of Seoul Ring Road which has been extended in June 30, a countermeasure to evaluate South Ansan IC which is to be open in July, and many other monitoring systems to watch over the major crowded areas.
