Gyeonggi Provincial Governor Kim Moon-Soo, who is in the midst of a visit to the US, has attracted an investment of USD 45 million from Han Energy Saving (HES), a company that manufactures water purification and resource recycling systems including residential water reuse systems. This is the first MOU concluded during his 4-night, 6-day visit to the US to attract investment.

Governor Kim entered into an MOU with HES CEO Oh Tae-Seok, a Korean-American entrepreneur, at Sheraton Mahwah Hotel.

HES is a subsidiary company of Ecotrend, a general environmental technology company that holds dual water system technology for the reuse of large volumes of wash water, and is focused on the development of advanced materials as well as new and renewable energy sources.

The company has been manufacturing its products at a rented facility in Hwaseong City, and will invest in life water purification facilities in the Hwaseong-Jangan Industrial Complex. It plans to export products manufactured in the complex to the US and Canada.

Governor Kim said, “I appreciate HES’s investment in Gyeonggi Province, and will help the company to achieve great success in Korea.”

CEO Oh Tae-Seok also expressed his gratitude, saying, “I appreciate the Gyeonggi Provincial Government’s help in facilitating our success in the province. I am happy to be engaged in the new and renewable energy business, which is a new growth engine, with the support of the provincial government as well.”

The MOU signing ceremony was also attended by the Honorable Choi Jun-Hee, who is Mayor of Edison City in the State of New Jersey. Mayor Choi was elected mayor of Edison, the fifth-largest city in the State, in 2006. He expressed his hopes for close exchange between his city and Gyeonggi Province.
