Gyeonggi Province has published a new guidebook titled ¢®¡ÆGyeonggi Food Culture,¢®¡¾ which features 176 restaurants that serve the best food in Gyeonggi Province. These restaurants were selected because they were considered to be representative of Gyeonggi Province’s unique food culture, serving traditional Korean dishes of all types.
The restaurants were divided into three categories, which are restaurants with the traditional Hanok buildings that are highly recommended to foreign visitors; restaurants featuring beautiful gardens and rest areas for families, couples and groups; and restaurants that offer the true taste and culture of Korea. The guidebook was prepared to promote these restaurants, both among residents of Gyeonggi Province and visiting tourists.
The guidebook also covered 17 food streets, where restaurants offering local specialty foods are clustered, in order to promote a healthy and reasonable food culture and to maintain the premium quality of Korea’s traditional food culture.
For the convenience of global readers, the guidebook will be provided in four languages, including English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese, and approximately 13,620 copies will be distributed to tourist information centers, tourist hotels, travel agencies, tourism organizations, tourism associations, central government organizations, city offices, provincial offices, food-related organizations and interested groups. It is anticipated that the guidebook will actively promote the excellence of Korean food, and help to support its globalization. The guidebook was designed to satisfy the needs of tourists, and improve their enjoyment of their time in Korea.
The guidebook will be posted online in full at the websites of Gyeonggi Provincial Office and Gyeonggi Tourism Organization from February 2010, and users will be able to freely search its contents.
