Gyeonggi Province appointed Soccer Ambassador Lim Heung-Se and the Suwon Samsung Little Wings youth football team as ambassadors of the Province. This timely measure has attracted a great deal of attention as the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa takes place this year. The Province held the appointment ceremony at the provincial government complex on the afternoon of Janurary 19th, and appointed Director Lim and members of the Suwon Samsung Little Wings as ambassadors of Gyeonggi Province.
The Province plans to undertake diverse PR efforts with the newly appointed ambassadors, including the hosting of a goodwill football match to celebrate the World Cup, and the production of a documentary film.
Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-Soo said, “I am honored to appoint Director Lim Heung-Se, who has dedicated himself to uniting the world through football, as well as future football stars of Korea, as ambassadors of the Province.”
Director Lim, who taught Hong Myeong-Bo and Kim Ju-Seong in their middle school years, is currently engaged in volunteer work to eradicate narcotics and AIDS in Gauteng Province of South Africa, which is a sister region of Gyeonggi Province.
