Vice-president of the India EMPI Graduate School of Business visits Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion.

The Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion (President: Lee Won Young) welcomed senior officials from the Indian government on June 8th, shared knowhow regarding Gyeonggi Province¡¯s innovation cluster promotion policies and discussed future cooperative directions.

The vice-president of the Indian Entrepreneurship and Management Processes International (EMPI) Graduate School of Business (located in Deli, India) is CEO of a Special Purpose Corporation established for the development of Gujarat Innovation City via cooperation between the India Gujarat Government and EMPI Graduate School of Business.

Gujarat State is situated above Maharashtra State (Gyeonggi¡¯s sister region) in the northwest of India;  it is a core region of the Indian economy and ranks second in the nation. It is also the region where Tata Motors produces the Nano passenger car  (approximate purchase price of KRW 2 million).

Gujarat Innovation City aims to be an industry and technology complex for IT, media, contents and airlines together with industry-academy associations. At present, it is making investment promotion agreements in Singapore, Taiwan and elsewhere. Within the country, the 1 million-pyeong industry and technology complex master plan is being formulated in consultation with the Korea Land & Housing Corporation.

The purpose of this visit to the Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion was to enhance understanding of the formation of the Gwanggyo Techno Valley and Pangyo Techno Valley in Gyeonggi Province and to discuss future cooperation policies.

Of particular note, this visit sought to benchmark the innovation cluster policies of local governments, and offered an ideal opportunity for the transfer of the science and technology policy knowhow of Gyeonggi Province as well as for the establishment of close and mutually cooperative systems.

It is expected that the small and medium enterprises of Gyeonggi Province can make market progress in India and the Middle East area by way of China through this opportunity. Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion President Lee Won Young said, “At every opportunity, we will continuously transfer the experiences of Gyeonggi Province¡¯s science and technology policies abroad and endeavor to actively support the overseas expansion of Gyeonggi enterprises through such means.”
