The Korea Federation of Journalists Inc. Recognizes

Governor Kim’s Practical and Citizen-Centric Administration

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-Soo was selected for the Proud Korean Award for his distinguished efforts in 2010.

Gyeonggi Province announced that Governor Kim Moon-Soo received the 2010 Proud Korean Award during a ceremony held in the 63 Building in Yeoido on December 10th.

The Proud Korean Award is awarded every year to individuals selected from 10 to 16 areas by judges composed of representatives from 50 of Korea’s leading media outlets including newspapers and broadcasters. In 2006, President Lee Myung-Bak and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon received the award, and in 2007 Congresswoman Park Geun-Hye also received the prestigious prize.

Prizes this year encompassed 16 areas including the broadcast media sector (KBS president Kim In-Gyu), education development (Pohang University of Science and Technology President Baik Sunggi), and sports (SK Wyverns Coach Kim Seong-Geun). As well as coming first in the area of administrative innovation, Governor Kim was selected as the overall winner.

The Korea Federation of Journalists Inc. announced that they chose Governor Kim due to the original and practical administration he has implemented in Gyeonggi Province, such as the 24-hour availability of public service, doorstep services, and the successful settlement of metropolitan area public transit discounts.

Governor Kim shared his thoughts on receiving the prize: “I’ll always remember that citizens are more important than the popularity of civil servants, and I’ll strive to be a role model who loves his country humbly.”
