Delegates of the Japanese National Women’s Education Center visited the Gyeonggi Women’s Vision Center on the 18th of this month to study the women’s leadership education of Gyeonggi Province.
According to the Gyeonggi Women’s Vision Center, the delegates exhibited deep interest in the CEO course and the core leader course offered through the women’s leadership program (MAP Program), which the Women’s Vision Center operated from September to December last year in cooperation with Ehwa Woman’s University. The program served as a benchmark for the Japanese educators.
It was reported that the visitors will incorporate what they have learned in Korea to the experiential and practical study of women’s career development, a three-year study that the Japanese National Women’s Education Center will complete by 2012.
An official of the Women’s Vision Center said that the delegates were particularly impressed by the practical leadership program such as the CEO course in which company CEOs are able to experience actual municipal activities taking place in the provincial government and encouraged to create and propose their own policies. The visitors cancelled other tour schedules and engaged in lively discussion regarding the program, the official said.
Oh Hyun-sook, president of the Women’s Vision Center, said, “It is good to see that a group of foreign leaders has found a model for women’s leadership education in the women’s leadership program of Gyeonggi Province. Nonetheless, we won’t stop here but will continue to develop the program.” She added, “Now that we’ve promised to undertake mutual exchange and cooperation, the women leaders of Korea and Japan can combine efforts to educate global women leaders.”
The Japanese National Women’s Education Center is a governmental institution established by the Japanese government for women’s education in 1977.
