Multi-cultural Golden Bell and Korean Speech contests awaits

– On August 24 there will be a Multicultural Festival for multicultural families from all over the country at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex. International music performances, bilingual speech contests, Korean speech contests, multi-cultural golden bell, and other programs have been prepared. (GNews Plus)

There are over 330 thousand foreign residents in Korea as of 2010. Thirty percent of these people reside in Gyeonggi Province. That is why the provincial government has always been first to establish offices and supporting facilities for multicultural families.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced on August 4 their plans to open a multicultural celebration 28th of the same month that puts together language, education, and cultural diversity for multicultural families to enjoy.

The purpose of the event is to promote a healthy, culturally diverse society within Gyeonggi Province. Those who visit will get a taste of authentic cousines from all over the world, watch bilingual speech competitions, Korean speech competitions, take part in a multicultural golden bell event, experience national holidays from around the world, play Gang-gangSuwollye,andenjoyallsortsofperformances.

Before the actual event, multicultural families will compete in the preliminaries. The bilingual speech contest will be held on the 27th (Sat.), and a talent show will be held the next day on the 4th floor of the provincial government complex main building. The Korean speech contest is for marriage immigrants and its preliminary will be held on the 30th (Fri.) at the Suwon Family and Women Center. Only ten teams will make it to the finals.

Those who might not be able to make it to the preliminaries are allowed to send a video of their performance via email until the 22nd.

For this year first place will win KRW 2 million, and the runner up KRW 1 million.
