Fifty-two members of the Gyeonggi Province assembly decide to invite a 10th professional baseball club to Suwon.

Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-soo, Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young and ten congressmen including Gyeonggi Party Chairman Go Hui-seon of the Saenuri Party, Gyeonggi Party Chairman Baek Jae-hyeon of the Democratic United Party, along with Lee Suk-chae, Chairman of KT Corp., got together at a breakfast meeting during which they decided to invite a 10th professional baseball team to Suwon.

The ten members of the National Assembly, representing the 52 members of the Gyeonggi Assembly, came up with a resolution to greet the 10th professional baseball clubs into Suwon, Gyeonggi Province’s main city and transportation hub, which is already equipped with a solid baseball related infrastructure. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) asked the government to select corporate and city sponsors with integrity.

Gyeonggi Province explained that the National Assembly members merely reflected the residents’ request in inviting the 10th baseball team.

Gyeonggi-do and Suwon will apply for membership as city and corporate members to start the 10th baseball team with KT on January 7th. The KBO will evaluate the candidates and select the base city and main corporate sponsor.
