Xunyang Wanxuda Group Ltd. in China and SeoHai Construction are joint partners in this massive project to construct a complex of tourism and leisure facilities on a 1,468,000m2 site. The total amount of investment is more than KRW 700 billion, of which the Chinese partner will provide about KRW 300 billion (US$300 million).

Construction of the Juksan tourism complex will commence towards the end of 2015 upon completion of the necessary administrative procedures and official approvals. Diverse facilities catering for all kinds of guests, including condominiums, campsites, natural forest lodges, personal welfare facilities, a waterpark, and a golf course (9 holes), will be built on the 1,460,000m2 site.

Gyeonggi Province expects that the investment will result in increased tax revenues of more than KRW 9.2 billion annually deriving from the creation of approximately 10,000 new jobs and an increase in the number of incoming tourists.

Kim Yeong-chun, chairperson of SeoHai Construction, said, “Despite these difficult times for the local construction industry, this leisure complex, where at least three generations of a family will be able to enjoy new experiences, well-being oriented services and recreation, will attract more than two million domestic tourists each year.”

Son Gwi-gil, chairperson of Xunyang Wanxuda Group from China, also expressed his high expectations for the complex, commenting, “As more Chinese people are becoming interested in the Korean wave and Korean history, the number of Chinese tourists will rise constantly.”

Kim Moon-soo, governor of Gyeonggi Province, said, “Anseong is a major transportation point in the southern part of the metropolitan area, and the city will be fully supported by the province in creating new quality jobs and revitalizing the regional economy.”

Gyeonggi Province announced today that 90% of the Juksan Tourist Complex has been purchased so that the approvals and administrative procedures can be processed smoothly, and that construction work starts on an ASAP basis.

The provincial government also expects that the success of Anseong city in attracting the combined leisure complex will serve as the basis for the city’s development into a specialized tourist city in the southeast part of the province.
