Gyeonggi Province recommends 12 recreational forests within the province as winter-healing travel destinations, including Chungnyeongsan Recreational Forest, where visitors can enjoy snow flowers and ice.

These recreational forests feature superb natural landscapes with valleys, rocks in fantastic shapes, and dense forests.  With accommodations and various convenience facilities, the forests enjoy considerable public popularity.

A representative of the province explained that these forests compare favorably with other recreational and travel spots available in the summer as well as winter, receiving 1.1 million visitors annually.

The Chungnyeongsan and Gangssibong recreational forests operated by Gyeonggi Province provide winter vistas such as ice hills, snowmen and ice sculptures, as well as facilities and playgrounds for traditional folk activities such as sledding, top-spinning, jegichag, yut nori, slap-matches and biseokchigi, enabling entire families to enjoy visits for healing and health. 

“I hope you breathe in the fresh air at a nearby recreational forest in Gyeonggi Province during this cold winter, and enjoy traditional games for healing and health,” said Min Soon-gi, head of the Forest Recreation Team of  Gyeonggi Province’s Forest Division.

Gyeonggi is planning to add nine more recreational forests so as to increase accessibility and convenience for residents.
