Gyeonggi Province and Anseong City succeeded in attracting an investment worth KRW 700 billion to build a 1.468 million square-meter (440,000-pyeong) tourism and leisure complex in Juksan-myeon.

Gyeonggi Province signed an MOU to build a tourism complex in Juksan, Anseong, on January 14 at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex with the attendance of Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-soo, Anseong City Mayor Hwang Eun-seong, Shenyang Mansundal Group (China) Chairman Son Gwui-gil , and Seohai Construction Chairman Kim Young-choon.

This is a massive project for the construction of a comprehensive tourism and leisure complex under the themes of culture, sports and tourism on a 1.468 million ㎡ site in Dangmok-ri, Juksan-myeon, Anseong City. China’s Mansundal Group and Seohai Construction will collaborate in the construction, and Mansundal Group will invest approximately USD 300 million (KRW 300 billion) out of a total investment of KRW 700 billion.

Divided into the Healing Zone, Culture Zone, Leisure Zone and Nature Zone, the Juksan Tourism Complex will be furnished with facilities for all age levels, a camp ground, recreational forest, healing center, water park, and golf course (nine holes). Construction will begin at the end of 2015 after the handling of administrative procedures such as licensing.

According to the agreement, Mansundal Group and Seohai Construction will faithfully collaborate with Gyeonggi Province and Anseong City and undertake investment, while Gyeonggi Province and Anseong City will provide active administrative support. Moreover, they will cooperate in efforts to preferentially employ local residents.

Gyeonggi Province announced that this investment is expected to create beneficial ripple effects including employment for over 10,000 people, production value of KRW 1.45 trillion, income generation of KRW 320 billion, and an annual increase of KRW 9.2 billion in local tax revenue through the attraction of visitors.

“I hope the construction of the Anseong Juksan Tourism Complex will serve as impetus for the creation of many good jobs in Anseong City, a major traffic point of the southern capital area, as well as for the revitalization of regional economy,” said Governor Kim.

“As there is growing interest in Korean culture and history, visits by Chinese to Korea will continue to increase in the future,” said Shenyang Mansundal Group Chairman Son Gwui-gil.

“Domestic construction businesses are currently facing some difficulties, but we will build a comprehensive recreation and tourism complex in which three generations can enjoy experiences, health and recreation together, and attract over two million tourists a year,” said Seohai Construction Chairman Kim Young-choon.

On the day of the MOU signing, Gyeonggi Province explained that 90% of the Juksan Tourism Complex site is already purchased, and it will finish licensing as soon as possible so that the construction can begin.

The province expects that the attraction of this complex will act as a stepping stone for Anseong, a city famous for its International Folklore Festival and Baudeogi Festival, facilitating its growth as a specialized tourism city in the southeast region of Gyeonggi Province.
