The Gyeonggi Foreign Investment Promotion Delegation, headed by Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-soo, visited Shanghai of China to sign an MOU with ED-SUN Hong Kong for investment in the Marina Bay Seoul Hotel in Gimpo City.
According to the agreement, ED-SUN Hong Kong will invest USD 80 million in the Gochon Logistics Complex site of 4556 ㎡ in Gimpo City of Gyeonggi Province, and build the largest business hotel for medical tourism in the province. The 700-room hotel is slated for completion by mid-2017.
The signing ceremony took place at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel on February 24 with the participation of Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim as well as Gimpo City Mayor Yoo Young-rok, ED-SUN Hong Kong CEO Sun Tie Lai, Shanghai Consulate General Goo Seong-chan, and KOTRA Director Lee Min-ho.
ED-SUN Hong Kong announced that the Marina Bay Seoul Hotel will be built under the concept of a business, medical tourism and leisure hotel in which the functions of business, leisure and shopping are integrated. It will feature the competitive advantages of a luxurious shopping complex as well as medical services such as stem cell and pathogenetic gene detection tests, scalp care, oriental medicine and pain relief.
Gyeonggi Province expects that the hotel will vitalize the regional economy and provide employment for at least 1,000 people while at the same time resolving the issue of insufficient accommodation for foreign tourists, including the rapidly increasing number of Chinese tourists, and vitalizing medical tourism projects.
“A medical tourism hotel will be built in Gimpo City of Gyeonggi Province thanks to ED-SUN Hong Kong’s investment,” said Governor Kim. “As a landmark of Gimpo City, the Marina Bay Seoul Hotel in will play an crucial role in advancing the Korean tourism industry.”
“Officials of Gyeonggi Province as well as other related Korean officials including the Consulate General in Shanghai will exert every effort to provide support so that the hotel will be quickly and successfully completed,” he stressed.
“I think it’s a good decision to establish the hotel in Gimpo City,” said the CEO. “With this project as impetus, we look forward to expanding other business relations with Gimpo City.”
ED-SUN Hong Kong is a Hong Kong-based investment consulting company founded in 2011. The company built a hotel in Heilongjiang Province of China, and currently it is lotting out 108 households of the Saint Castle Townhouse located in Dongtan New Town after completion of construction.
