GARES holds Insect Industry Promotion Exhibition from May 13 to 25

◇ The Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services (GARES) is holding its Insect Industry Promotion Exhibition from May 13 to 25 in the special exhibition hall of the Gyeonggi Provincial Mulhyanggi Arboretum. ⓒ Gyeonggi G-News

At the exhibition, visitors can see a variety of pet insects and endangered insects from the DMZ as well as living specimens.

The GARES is holding the Insect Industry Promotion Exhibition from May 13 to 25in the special exhibition hall of the Gyeonggi Provincial Mulhyanggi Arboretum. 

The exhibition features 64 insect species including endangered insects from the DMZ area of Gyeonggi Province, such as Argynnis nerippe, as well as four insect dioramas under the theme of four seasons.

Moreover, visitors can see living specimens of ten insect species that hold promise for commercialization as pets including stick insects, crickets, beetles and yellow ladybugs.

Furthermore, the exhibition shows video clips of the activities of 27 insect industry research groups sponsored by Gyeonggi Province.

“This exhibition is being held to help people better understand insects that may seem somewhat unfamiliar, and also to introduce the insect industry that will be a new growth engine for agriculture in the future,” explained an official at the GARES.
