Governor Nam Kyung-pil expressed his wish to expand economic cooperation with Indonesia during a meeting with the members of the Indonesian Council of Regional Representatives who paid a courtesy visit to his office in the afternoon of November 18.

The Indonesian Council of Regional Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Daerah, DPD) headed by Chairman Irman Gusman is a body composed in October this year to supplement the parliament and strengthen regional representativeness. It is similar to the Senate of the bicameral system.

According to the Gyeonggi Province, during the meeting with Governor Nam Kyung-pil, Mr. Irman Gusman discussed diverse areas of economic cooperation between the two countries, including talented Indonesians working for Korean businesses.

“Indonesia is a land of opportunity and hope. We at the Gyeonggi Province will lead others in expanding economic cooperation with Indonesia, regarding it as our future land,” said Mr. Nam Kyung-pil after the meeting.

The Gyeonggi Province and Indonesia have jointly implemented the All Lights Village Project (for providing solar-powered lights to rural villages) and the onsite experience/training project for women resources development as part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects since 2011. During the DPD members’ visit to the Gyeonggi Province, both parties decided to expand the areas of mutual collaboration.
