At 4:00 PM on March 27, Nam Kyung-pil met with Jiangsu Province Governor Li Xueyong at a hotel in Boao and proposed the invigoration of discussions on the launch of a council of local governments in the pan-West Sea areas. He also said that the two provinces should play a central role in positive cooperation between local governments in connection with the signing of the Korea-China FTA in November 2014.

Nam Kyung-pil proposed the following to bolster exchanges and collaboration between the two provinces: ▲ establishment of a cluster for hi-tech industries and joint logistics operation; ▲ collaboration in newly emerging technology-based industries; ▲ joint research between businesses, universities, and research institutes; ▲ reciprocal holding of goods exhibitions; ▲ exchanges between development zones and free trade zones; ▲ holding trade-investment IR sessions; ▲ providing young people with opportunities to study or go through job training in each other’s province, etc.

Governor Li Xueyong expressed his consent enthusiastically. He added that he would discuss the matter with neighboring provinces located along the West Sea.

At 5:20 PM on the same day, the Gyeonggi governor met with CITIC Securities Chairman Wang Dongming at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Boao and exchanged opinions on how to deal with current economic problems like the slowdown of the Chinese economy, FRB’s interest rate hike, the increased fluctuation in the international financial markets, etc.

Chairman Wang Dongming explained matters regarding China’s ongoing market-centered innovation of the economic system, the One Belt, One Road strategic initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013, and the plan for the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Metropolitan Region. Nam Kyung-pil expressed his wish to see collaboration between Chinese businesses and their counterparts in Gyeonggi-do in infrastructure construction and logistics operation.

On the evening of the same day, Nam Kyung-pil attended the luncheon symposium held under the theme of Economic Prospects for the World and Asia 2015, which was also attended by executive members of the Asian Forum including former Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo.
