On a bright and spring day, a hundred million of flowers present a dazzling display at Ilsan Lake Park, Goyang City.
There are spring flowers that have bloomed naturally in this season as well as cultured flowering plants. This is a truly beautiful gift of April, delivering fragrances and hopes to people and imbued with a sense of dynamic vitality.
International Horticulture Goyang Korea 2015, a festival of the nation’s flowers, began on April 24. Themed on the “Ensemble of Korean Wave of flowers and peace”, this flower festival will run until May 10 at Ilsan Lake Park. The event is being attended by 320 horticulture-related institutions, organizations and companies from 35 countries around the world, who will promote their own flowering plants and horticulture-related products.
The rare plants including the crystal flower, which turns transparent with a drop of water on its petal, will capture the attention of visitors. In addition, the indoor gardens are adorned with flower statues and vibrant outdoor themed gardens that entice visitors to explore more. People rush to capture memories of flowers with their cameras.
The entire scene encompasses a hundred million flowers that have bloomed under a spring breeze as well as the people who chase after the beautiful fragrances of these flowers. What kinds of flowers will bloom in the hearts of these visitors?

Gabin (30) from Malaysia, accompanied by his partner, said, “Diverse beautiful flowers on a bright spring day look so splendid, and there are so many attractions to enjoy here. This will be a treasured memory of my trip to Korea.” He added, “However, the fact that there are few foreign language guidebooks or explanations is quite inconvenient.”
The newly introduced Goyang Novel K-Wave Concert Hall, a new indoor exhibition room, is a definite attraction with its ceiling and walls decorated in flowers. With the convergence of flowers and a splendid multimedia system, the hall offers a new paradigm in art.
In the Global Horticulture Exchange Hall, rare plants are displayed, and various attractions such as the garden of an explorer, lifestyle zones, horticulture labs and a peaceful unification special hall can be found here. Goyang Novel K-Wave PR Hall introduces new Korean Wave-related contents.
Outdoor exhibitions that showcase the beautiful scenery of the adjacent lake have become an attraction as well. Visitors can discover everything about flowers and horticulture through outdoor exhibitions ranging from the Nuri Peace Park, Haenbok Doongji Park, Ohsun-dosun Park, Han-somang Flowered Wall, Osol-gil Hyang-soo Park, and Korean Garden Show 2015 to the Mozaic Culture Park and Urban Agriculture Display.

An eight-meter-long multimedia screen shows a burgeoning array of flowers, the beautiful nature of South and North Korea, and the four distinct seasons of Goyang City. In addition, a large flower ring, heart arch and wedding cake, all produced with flowers, are showcased as well.
In addition, one can enjoy a healing experience through the harmony of flowers and arts. For the 17 days of the flower festival, more than 300 performances in diverse genres as well parades and performances that add to the cultural and artistic value of the event will be showcased as well.
There are also hands-on events for visitors including the Flower Design Competition, Preserved Flower Cup Competition, and Traditional Flower Arrangement Awards Exhibition
International Horticulture Goyang Korea 2015’s opening ceremony, which was attended by over 4,000 foreign horticulture-related officials and Goyang City residents, was held at six p.m. on April 23 in Hanwool Stadium of Ilsan Lake Park.
Established in 1997, International Horticulture Goyang Korea has emerged as Korea’s representative horticultural fair. By its eighth edition in 2014, it had received over 5.2 million overseas and local visitors.
