On May 11, Gyeonggi Province
announced that it is beginning full-fledged support of the 2016 Rotary
International Convention that will take place on May 28 at KINTEX in Goyang
City.

Gyeonggi Province established
a task force team led by Gyeonggi Province Assistant Governor for Economy Oh
Byeong-gwon last March and has been preparing for the event along with 14
cities and counties. In particular, it created safety plans including traffic
safety, food hygiene, disease control, emergency aid, and fire safety for key
locations such as the accommodations and moving routes for guests.

The 2016 Rotary International
Convention is an ultra-large MICE event that runs for five days from May 28 to
June 1 with more than 50,000 internal and external guests as well as 25,000
foreign guests. Gyeonggi Province secured the right to host the event with
Goyang City in 2012.

According to a report from the
Institute of Convention and Exhibition Management, the economic impact of this
Rotary International Convention will reach KRW 272 billion.

In order to cater to the more
than 50,000 guests attending the event, Gyeonggi Province prepared
accommodation facilities in cooperation with hotels, business motels, and
training institutes, and resorts so as to prepare more than 13,000 rooms in the
province.

While the participants stay in
Gyeonggi Province, the provincial government plans to support the Rotary
International Convention through relevant authorities including 14 counties and
cities (including Goyang and Paju) as well as the police. Additionally, it will
promote tourism in Gyeonggi Province by offering official tourism products such
as DMZ and pottery tours.
