Filming location for Descendants of the Sun

[Paju] Camp Greaves & Garden BCJ

Camp Greaves was home to the 2nd Infantry Division of the United States Army for more than five decades. It’s a mere 2km away from the southern limit line of the demilitarized zone (DMZ), so visitors can really feel the tension of the divided nation. Today, thanks to the efforts of the military, the site has been transformed into a venue for experiencing peace and security in Korea.

Camp Greaves has been reborn as an ideal location for security tourism, taking advantage of the first youth hostel inside the civilian control line (which was renovated into a more modern facility), as well as the camp’s geographical and historical characteristics. The camp appeared several times in the popular K-drama Descendants of the Sun.

[Gapyeong] August Cheongpyeong & Edelweiss Swiss Theme Park

Gapyeong has two up-and-coming hot spots where a couple of K-dramas were filmed. First is August Cheongpyeong with the beautiful landscape of Cheongpyeongho Lake. August Cheongpyeong is a cluster of luxurious pensions with classical features that remind visitors of 1960s America in addition to a nice mix of modern design.

Round caravans you might have seen in the movies, a well maintained and beautiful garden, and the autumn scene of Cheongpyeongho Lake made August Cheongpyeong a sensation right after airing on television. Now it’s a popular destination for couples near Cheongpyeongho Lake.

Filming locations for A Werewolf Boy and Its Okay, Thats Love

[Pocheon] Bidulginang Falls

Roughly 300,000 years ago, there was a large volcanic eruption in Pyeonggang-gun, North Korea. Lava from the volcano flowed across the area where Pocheon, Yeoncheon and Paju stand today to create a vast region of igneous rock in the shape of columns. Later on, river water flowed into the cracks, eroded the basalt basin, and created cliffs and valleys. The basalt valley now features a picturesque waterfall called Bidulginang Falls.

5.jpg Images

It was named ‘Bidulginang’ because white pigeons used to inhabit the area. Pigeons do not live there now, but it has become a popular filming location for movies such as A Werewolf Boy, Arrow, the Ultimate Weapon, and The Tiger as well as K-dramas such as Queen Seon Deok and The Slave Hunters.

Also, a columnar joint continues for roughly 400m from the waterfall to Hantangang River. At the observation deck located 100m away from the mouth of Bidulginang Falls, you will be able to see the waterfall tucked in the steep valley along with a beautiful view of the surrounding Hantangang River. It really is a stunning scene so I recommend a visit!

[Yangju] Songam Space Center & Chang Ucchin Museum of Art – Yangju City

Two filming locations in Yangju featured in the popular K-drama The Entertainer, which aired last spring, is enjoying a late autumn surge. First, the Songam Space Center, located in the beautiful natural environment of Gyemyeongsan Mountain, is a superior location for astronomy and science thanks to an astronomical observatory and various amenities that help visitors observe space.

Most impressive among the facilities is the Challenger Learning Center, a simulator that allows you to experience realistic space flight, and the planetarium for video screenings. The view from the cable car on your way up to the observatory is excellent, and the center also offers Star House, a place at which visitors can stay overnight to sleep as one with nature.
