Supporting Small Businesses to Obtain Foreign Standard Certification for Competitive Power Development

On July 22, Gyeonggi-do extended its backup for small and medium-sized enterprises to obtain foreign certifications such as CE (Europe), LL (America), CCC (China) and other countries and furthermore increase export. The extended support will take effect on 12 product related enterprises and 11 system authentication enterprises.

Enterprises needing support must submit an application and required documents to the Gyeonggi-do Foreign Affairs Department until August 2. Support will be determined after regular selection procedures are carried out.

Support range covers up to 70% of costs for foreign standard certifications and financially support up to 5 million Won per enterprise.

Subjects are small and medium-sized enterprises that have manufacture facilities or main offices in Gyeonggi-do and export amount of less than $5 million during 2002.

Especially at this point of time when the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) is expected to be enforced starting from the first of August, many small enterprises requiring the CCC are expected to apply for support.

In addition, provincial personnel have selected 50 export enterprises since April and continued to support foreign standard certification acquirement activities. Since this support program is welcomed by many small enterprises, Gyeonggi-do will inquire into extending the operation further after considering support outcome after 2004.
