Gyeonggi plans to construct a bicycle track as long as five round trips from Seoul to Pusan till 2010. To promote the use of bicycles, installation of depositories and pedestrian crossing sidewalks will also be built.

As the number of vehicles has grown up to 3 million, traffic congestion and environment pollution has become a critical problem. To solve this, Gyeonggi will invest national and provincial expenditures of 340.8 billion Won until 2010 to expend bicycle tracks.

To the current 1,562km bicycle track, 3,034km will be additionally installed with an investment of 174.6 billion Won until 2010.

Various methods of promoting bicycle use is being examined also. A plan to connect the track with subways and bus terminals will solve rush-hour commutation congestion.

25.5 billion Won will be invested until 2010 to install bicycle depositories to store 167,460 bicycles near subways and other means of transportation and also lower sidewalk heights in 4,910 places for easy bicycle use.

With the introduction of 5 working day system, it is planning to establish hiking roads connected to region’s famous mountains and rivers, providing practical rest place for many families in weekends.
