Smooth movements in promoting Visit Gyeonggi Year 2005

Gyeonggi-do has appointed 2005 as the ‘Visit Gyeonggi Year’ and are studiously preparing global events such as the World Peace Festival, World Ceramic Biennale Korea and other festivals. 

Since the World IT Fair has been cancelled the Gyeonggi-do government is making every effort to prepare other tourist packages such as visiting DMZ, tidelands and other competitive substitutes. 

According to the government on Feb. 16, the government is strengthening foreign marketing activities and publicity through harbors and airlines, and tourist attractions and convenient facilities are being improved and maintained. 

The World Peace Festival that will be held in the northern Gyeonggi-do neary Paju, during March and April next year, includes international conferences on the subject of securing ecological peace. 

The World Ceramic Biennale Korea, to be held in Icheon, Yeoju and Gwangju, expects spectators from Europe and America and also many from Asian countries and seminars with scholars related with Oriental studies will also be invited. 

Development on tourist packages is underway. Competitive and cultural regions such as Hwaseong, which is designated as one of World Heritages, will soon capture the world’s attention.
