Gyeonggi Province strengthens economic exchanges and cooperation with Peru.
On May 28, Gyeonggi Province Vice Governor for Economy Kim Hyun-gon attended a state dinner at the invitation of Peruvian Ambassador to Korea Paul Duclos.
The invitation was extended in appreciation of Gyeonggi Province’s hospitality and active cooperation in official development assistance (ODA) during a visit by a Peruvian mayoral delegation last June.
“We are pleased to continue our cooperation with Peru, this year’s APEC Chair, in organizing this event,” Vice Governor Kim said at the dinner, adding, “We look forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Peru and the Latin American region, which has unlimited potential.”
“The 21 fire trucks and ambulances donated by Gyeonggi Province have been distributed to various cities in Peru,” said Ambassador Douclos. “We are grateful for the exchange with our mayors, which has strengthened our cooperation with Gyeonggi Province,” said Peruvian Ambassador to Korea.”
Gyeonggi Province has recently held two meetings with Peruvian local governments regarding cooperation in various fields such as public administration, information and communication technology (ICT), trade and the environment, and expects the meetings to serve as a bridgehead for entering the Latin American market.
In addition to Vice Governor for Economy Kim Hyun-gon, the dinner was attended by the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly’s Safety and Administration Committee Chairman Ahn Gye-il, Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters Commissioner Cho Seon-ho, and International Relations Ambassador Kim In-cheol.
