The “1st Beatles Festival” – which revolves around the theme of the Beatles, the famed band that left behind some of the greatest achievements in pop history – will be held on September 22 and 23 throughout the entire area of the Dongducheon Special Tourist Zone in Bosan-dong.
This event, which is co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province and Dongducheon City and organized by the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, is expected to arouse excitement in Dongducheon City through a Beatles song contest and a special performance by the British ‘Counterfeit Beatles,’ who have been widely touted by the Liam Gallery.
Beginning with the preliminaries of the Beatles song contest, which will be held on September 15 with the participation of 60 talented teams from around the nation on an outdoor stage in the Dongducheon Special Tourist Zone in Bosan-dong, 20 teams will move on to compete in the final competition at the same location from 4pm on September 22.
After the final competition on September 22, congratulatory performances by the Switch Band and Young Sound Band will be held and, on September 23 (Saturday), amazing performances by American and Korean bands such as the Beatles tribute band Counterfeit Beatles (British), EXP Edition (US), Vivid Slow and Hoochus will take place. Also, to celebrate the Beatles Festival, The Beatles Story PR Director Dave Milner will be visiting from Liverpool.
In addition, a Beatles exhibition will be held as a bonus event; visitors can enjoy rare music, music videos and movies of the Beatles through Club Day, and various things to do and see will be provided such as cosplay and a photo zone. The organizers expect the event to be more fabulous than any other festival of its kind.
