Gyeonggi-do expand water supply facilities by investing 393 billion Won till 2006. And additional invest 620 billion Won to establish a “Tap water quality improvement general plan” which goal is to produce and supply tap water so residents can drink safely. Investments total up to 1 trillion and 43 billion Won.
To carry out the project the province first plans to invest 377 trillion 880 billion Won into improving purification processing facilities.
First of all, test installment and basic design for high-tech purification processing facilities, purification plants, which purifies 50 thousand tons of water daily, acquire ISO certification. To replace poor water pipes, 112 billion Won is invested to replace 775Km of old pipes, constructing 2,539Km of GIS (Geographic Information System) and promoting 326 current gauge monitor systems.
Gyeonggi-do will invest 92.2 billion Won in expanding facilities until 2006 to expand water supply to 1.290 million tons a day.
To accomplish this, the province improves megalopolis water supply to 6 phases supplying 908 thousand tons, northern megalopolis water supply to supply 341 thousand tons, local water supply to 49 thousand tons. Plans also include increasing the last year’s supply population of 8.8 million to 10 million till 2006 therefore, increasing 89.5% to 93.4% from total population.
To improve purification facilities, 98.8 billion Won will be invested till 2006. This investment will be used to install purification processing equipment to improve water taste. Efficiency of facility reform and automation in 88 purification plants are to be improved by this plan.
Other than this, 543.1 billion Won will be invested to replace old pipes until 2006.
2,161Km long, old pipes aging over 20 will be replaced and also 7,064㎞ GIS construction and 481 current gauge monitor systems will be improved to scientifically control the water system.
