Processed goods, flowering plants and other Gyeonggi-do products turns up to be favoritable export items.

On the fifth, export of farm produce from Gyeonggi-do has increased 145% from 89 million dollars of the first of last year to 62 billion dollars of the first half of this year. This takes up 75% of Gyeongg-do’s annual goal of 120 billion dollars.

According to the simplification of shipping inspections during the Korean-US Container Agreement in Janurary, processed farm produce such as alcoholic liquors, Korean treats and tea have increased 213% from 29 billion dollars of the first of last year to 62 billion dollars of the first half of this year.

In addition, flowering plants such as orchids, cactuses, roses and other plants also increased 158% from 5 billion dollars of the first of last year to 8 billion dollars of the first half of this year. Farm produce of processed food and flowering plants has increased Gyeonggi-do farm product export according to the analysis.

However, export of livestock products, special produce and vegetables have decreased due to SARS and the foot-and-mouth disease.

Farm produce importing countries, Russia takes up first with 36% (32 billion dollars), Japan 16% (14 billion dollars) and America 15% (13 billion dollars) among total export amount of 89 billion dollars.

To activate farm produce export, development of various products related to health treatment using farm produce and expandation of organic produce will develop price competitiveness.
