New Tech Korea 2003 was held on Oct. 17, in the Pacific Hall at COEX, Samsung-dong on the subject of “Technology festival for future motive power and local balanced development” in the presence of President Roh and the Minister of the MOCIE (Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy).
The five-day event is composed of 8 pavilions where the present and future of next generation development potential can be viewed. The event is held under the sponsorship of MOCIE and the supervision of KOTEF (Korea Industrial Technology Foundation) and about 260 companies are participating to show new technology and products.
LG Phillips LCD was honored with the presidential award for developing the world’s first ’30 in. LCD panel made with copper wiring’. The gold award, which is also the prime minister award was granted to Kumho Tire with its ‘Super light and high intensity radial tire’ and also to Cyberbank for its ‘Smartphone’ and to with ifs ‘Air and water purifier using ultra catalytic technology’.

In addition, the exhibition excavated and displayed valuable new technology and products developed by domestic companies, universities and research institutes. This event has contributed economic outcome such as attracting investors, sales promotion, technology transfers and business transactions. Citizen understanding on technology are enlightened through the inspiration of technicians who lead the future of Korea.
