Cultural & Industrial Tour 2005 (1st) for the US Soldiers in Korea

Gyeonggi-do will host provincial tours for the US soldiers stationed in Pyeongtak to improve upon the negative image that they get from limited experience of poor environment around the military base. The tours will include visits to superb cultural and advanced industrial facilities in Gyeonggi-do. 

The tours will lay the groundwork in renewing image of the nation to eyes of the US soldiers in Korea while promoting cooperative community culture with local residents by heighten the cultural understanding. 

Gyeonggi-do has consistently pushing forward the tour project to facilitate more all-encompassing understanding and furthermore the sense of solidarity by the US soldiers with the province. 5 tours are planned for the year 3005. 

The first tour will include 70 US soldiers from Osan Air Base (K-55) and Camp Humphrey (K-6). Participants will visit Korea Folk Village, World Ceramics Biennale (Icheon), and Hwaseong Fortress (Suweon), and take part in a special archery program on April 23. 

The province plans to continue its support for cooperative relationship between the US soldiers and local residents through goodwill and exchange programs such as “Learn Korea” event, “Goodwill Sports Meet,” and “Spread Korean History & Culture.”
