Gasoline buses, which are the main cause of environmental pollution, will be drastically replaced with natural gas buses until 2006.

Gyeonggi-do clarified that natural gas buses do not emit fumes which are the principal offense to environmental pollution. Other ozone apparatus elements, such as nitrogen oxide, can be reduced up to 70% compared to gasoline buses and noise can also be reduced in half.

Analysises say that pollutant emission from one natural gas buse is equal to that from 40~50 small-sized cars. If 200 Natural gas buses are supplied, pollutant element will reduce by 1-hundredths.

Therefore, the province will provide 2,474 natural gas buses until 2006 and and replenish facitlies for natural gas will also be increased.

A province representative said that the 2,474 natural gas buses will bring an effect of reducing pollutant element emitted from 124 thousand small-sized vehicles and the supply of natural gas vehicles will continuously expand.
