Gyeonggi announced that it would select traditional food Best 5 in order to develop high-quality traditional food of great tastes, aromas and colors as international commodities. All processed food items made of Korean agricultural goods are eligible for the competition. 

Selection categories are Traditional alcohol (rice wine, fruit wine) Ginseng-based snack and other food items Traditional pastries (oil-and-honey pastry) Tea & Beverage (green tea, plum tea) Other processed food. Ginseng-based beverage will be categorized as a beverage item. 

All processed food items made of mainly Korean agricultural goods that has been in sale for the minimum of three month are eligible for the competition. 

If the main ingredient is not available from Korea due to the lack or shortage of production agents, one can employ imported ingredients under the condition that the price and/or the weight of main imported ingredients do not exceed 40% of the total. 

Application can be submitted to the agriculture division of a city/county in which the production plant is located by June 25. The province will hold a quality review in the beginning of July, and Best 5 from each category (total of 25 items) will be selected by July 20. They will be furthered in the national competition. 

MAF revision by experts will select 25 items (1 excellence, 4 gold, 5 silver, 15 bronze) to be awarded trophies and prize money (\300,000 ~ 600,000) by the president on October 25.
