o First transformation of 22 VIP seats into 6 seats for handicapped persons in Korea

o Outdoor theme park, underground parking lot

Gyeonggi Culture & Art Center will be reborn as Gyeonggi Arts Center on June 11.

The province came to a conclusion that the public management of the facility could not satisfy the need for local art promotion. Thus it transformed the existing institute into a specialized non-profit corporation “Gyeonggi Arts Center”.

The Arts Center is the first in the nation to transform the best 22 VIP seats from the Da-ropw into 6 seats for handicapped persons on the first floor of 1000-seat capacity in the grand theatre.

A new underground parking lot for 400 cars was constructed; now the center can accommodate 600 automobiles in its above and under-ground parking facilities. A theme park construction is in the process to become an arena for small concerts and other outdoor performances.

Along with the Arts Center, Kukahkdong (located in front of the Folk Village, Kiheung-eup, Yongin-shi) will open on July 1. A 20-day celebratory performance series will be held at this theatre of capacity for 481 persons including 6 seats for handicapped persons.

An official from the province stated, “The new Arts Center will host showings of high-quality performances and strengthen the “Capillary Culture Campaign” program to reach out to the underprivileged. It also plans to continuously promote the ‘Mentor Program’ business from which elementary school students can be guided by personal interaction with performance group members.”
