Gyeonggi province announced on June 15 that it would support the SMB trade activities through the delegation of 70 people from 49 companies headed by the head of administration Jeong Chang-seop. This delegation will focus on tackling markets in Chile and the US between June 17 and 27.

This consultation tour is intended to accelerate the SMB activities from Gyeonggi to Central/ South America taking the finalization of Korea-Chile FTA as an opportunity. It will feature all products from agricultural sector as well as advanced technology sectors of electric, electronics, information telecommunication, IT and automobile parts industries. Interactions on this ground will promote the mutual economic development.

The province will dispatch the delegation of 29 companies in the sectors of electric, electronic and information telecommunication for market exploration to Miami and San Francisco in the US on June 18.

They will relocate to Santiago, Chile on June 22 to host a trade show for buyers from South America. This will be an opportunity to make products from Gyeonggi known.

Many buyers from Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay will visit this trade show as a result of the effort by KOTRA local trade office.

Jeong will also hold a meeting with Mr. Alvaro Diza – the deputy minister of Economics, Chile – on June 22 to discuss the means to expand the trade volume between Chile and Gyeonggi as well as the terms of cooperation.

An official from the province stated, “This will be an ample opportunity for high-standard SMBs who face much difficulty in exporting to the region by heightening the brand/product image.”

“We hope to be able to gain trust from the buyers in this region by the head of administration’s personal participation to the tour.”

The province is also planning a matching consultation session for buyers in need of constant aftercare by inviting them to Gyeonggi and providing additional consultation.
