The Committes of the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale (GICB) and the International Ceramics Festival Mino, Japan (Mino Festival) agreed to expand on interchange such as publicity cooperation on August 2.

The Korea Ceramic Foundation held a meeting with the executive committee of the International Ceramics Festival Mino in their visit to Icheon Cerapia. In this meeting, plans for friendly cooperation of GICB 2013 and the 10th Mino Festival to take place in 2014 in Gifu, Japan were discussed.

Many opinions were suggested in the meeting such as publicity cooperation and exchange projects of the two events, and it was decided that the Mino Festival will attend the GICB 2013 to promote the event, and the Korea Ceramic Foundation in the Mino Festival in 2014 to promote the GICB.

The GICB is held every other year, and the Mino Festival every three years. Thus, the Korea Ceramic Foundation and Japan’s Mino Festival executive committee promised to promote cooperative projects in various ways such as joint exhibitions and collaborative projects in 2017 when the two events will be held in the same year.

In 2005, the Korea Ceramic Foundation had signed a cultural exchange agreement with the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu, which hosts the Mino Festival. In the following year, the Foundation had promoted Asian Ceramic Delta, a joint exhibition between three nations in cooperation with the Mino executive committee and Taiwan’s Yingge Ceramics Museum.

“We had promoted the Asian Ceramic Delta in 2006, but we could not conduct a joint project due to the budget issues of each nation,” said relevant staff of the province. “Thus, the Korea Ceramic Foundation resumed exchange along with the GICB 2013. With the recent agreement between Gyeonggi Province and Gifu to promote exchange in the field of ceramics and tourism, the ceramics exchange between Gifu and the Korea Ceramic Foundation is expected to gather momentum.”

The GICB 2013 will take place in Icheon Cerapia, Gwangju Gonjiam Ceramic Park, and Yeoju Ceramics World from September 28 to November 17 under the theme “Community – with me, with you, with us.”
