Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-soo participated in the LG Display Paju P9 Plant M2 OLED line equipment delivery ceremony at 11 a.m. on August 1, looking around the facilities and equipment and encouraging the employees.

Over 300 people participated in the event, Paju Mayor Lee In-jae, members of the National Assembly such as Hwang Jin-ha and Yoon Hoo-deok, and LG Display CEO Han Sang-beom as well as Governor Kim.

The ceremony started off with the progress report, followed by a congratulatory message, resolution reading, a ritual wishing for good management of the plant’s production line and the equipment delivery ceremony.

Measuring  5,747 pyeong (19,000㎡) of the building area in 48,500 pyeong (160,325㎡) of total building floor area, LG Display Paju P9 Plant invested KRW 2.1 trillion.

The OLED line celebrated for delivery that day is the production line for organic light emitting diode (OLED) equipment for 8th-generation 55-inch TV panel with the glass size of 2200㎜ (width) × 2500㎜ (length), and its investment amounts to KRW 1.1 trillion.

During the ceremony, Governor Kim commented, “I think this is the most pleasant and promising moment recently We achieved such investment and technology in the most advanced area in today’s tough economic times. This is great not only for LG but also for many SMEs in Korea.”

He added, “I’m happy to see that LG Display, a Korean company, became the best in producing such good products. I’m proud to see so many Korean brands for things like hotel supplies as I travel around the world. I wish you continued prosperity and would like to congratulate you.”

Governor Kim looked around the plant and also suggested a tourism promotion for Gyeonggi Province using the 84-inch Ultra HD, which is an expanded version of 55-inch OLED TV.

“If Gyeonggi Province rents the third floor of Imjingak Pyeonghwanuri Pyeonghwa Center, where many tourists are visiting, as the LG Display promotional hall and show videos of Kaesong Industrial Complex, DMZ and North Korea on the 84-inch TV by LG Display, it will produce great promotional effects,” said Governor Kim.

LG Display Complex is 530,000 pyeong in size and is located 16㎞ away from Kaesong Industrial Complex. Their goal is to produce a monthly average of 25,000 units by the first half year of 2014 after the Paju P9 Plant M2 OLED line equipment delivery ceremony.
