To commemorate the installation of the Imjingak Pyeonghwa-Nuri bicycle rental station, Gyeonggi Province announced on April 6 that the DMZ Bicycle Tour will take place on April 29.

The DMZ Bicycle Tour will allow people to access to the DMZ, a zone that is usually restricted, and provide them with the opportunity to explore the area while experiencing first-hand the historical and ecological beauty of the DMZ.

As an event commemorating the opening of the Imjingak Pyeonghwa-Nuri bicycle rental station in March, this tour will be accompanied by other activities to entertain participants such as DMZ photo exhibitions and postcard-writing events.

The bicycle tour course is designed to maximize enjoyment of the beautiful natural environment of the DMZ while ensuring visitors remain within a safe and secure area close to the Imjingang Riverside patrol road within the civilian control line, the Tongildaegyo Bridge and Chopyeongdo Island. This 1.5-hour course covers a total distance of 17.2 kilometers (there is also a beginner course of 13 kilometers).

Applications for the event can be made online via the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization website (www.ggtour.or.kr) from April 9 to 20. A KRW 10,000 participation fee applies. Bicycle rental will also be available on site for a fee of KRW 3,000.

The DMZ Bicycle Tour will take place twice this year, with the second event slated for October 28.
