Introduction 

Seonbeopsa Temple is a small scale temple that contains Geungnakbojeon Hall of Seonbeopsa Temple and Yosachae (the place where Buddhist monks prepare for meal), which belong to the Taego Order religious sect. Taego Order is a traditional sect of Korean Buddhism, having Korean Buddhism which is mixed with different kind of Buddhism and practicing the mind of Wonyunghoetong (to harmonize differences) with Taego Bou Guksa of Goryo Dynasty as its main creed. In Seonbeopsa Temple is Rock-carved Seated Bhaisajyaguru Buddha with the inscription “in the 2nd year of Taepyeong (977)” carved in it, so it is presumed that at least there was a temple there before that time. Later, it is not known when the temple was ruined, but on the site, which was left vacant, Monk Hyegak demolished and rebuilt the temple in 1955. In 1971, Monk Beomsan was appointed as the chief monk, and the temple, which is seen today, was rebuilt in 1991. The small mineral spring beside the Seonbeopsa Temple is called Eoyongsaem Spring because Baekje’s King Onjo drank from it. The water is cold and tastes good so many people use it. Seated Bhaisajyaguru Buddha cures diseases of people, extends people’s life spans, gets rid of disasters, and provides satisfying clothing and food, and formed the Twelve Heavenly Generals. This Buddha has a lot of realistic and wishing for good luck characteristics, who meets the desires of the ordinary people. Therefore, many people who visit Seonbeopsa Temple wish for peace in the family and a bountiful life in front of Seated Bhaisajyaguru Buddha.
