Gyeonggi’s SMEs have an opportunity to sell their exemplary products through Amazon, the biggest online marketplace in the United States.

According to an announcement by Gyeonggi Province on January 22, the Gyeonggi FTA Business Center, through the Korea-US FTA, will select 70 SMEs in Gyeonggi Province by February 9 to sell products via the Amazon online platform.

With this program, the notable products of many Gyeonggi companies will be available for sale through the representative US online retail market, Amazon.com. In addition, both the Gyeonggi FTA Business Center and Amazon Korea will collaborate to promote the entry of many talented personnel into the US market.

This program is expected to contribute to pioneering new trading venues and resolving key difficulties for entering the US offline market stemming from Korea-US FTA revisions and the continuous growth of protectionism.

The Suwon (Gwanggyo Business Center) program begins on February 21, and the Goyang Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) program begins on March 7; registration for both occurs simultaneously. In order to be selected, applying companies should be located in Gyeonggi Province, retail whole products, and be able to launch via the Amazon marketplace.

The selected companies will receive training in essential knowledge required for US trade, such as practical trading know-how, certification of origin for the Korea-US FTA, non-tariff barriers, and so on.

Additionally, registering products with Amazon and retailing through FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) as well as all related required processes will be included in the training.

For the companies that have completed the training, 1-on-1 consultation visits will be provided for 2 months. Training primarily covers US trade, which is provided by the Gyeonggi FTA Business Center, while sales consultations will be provided by Amazon personnel.

Those wanting to participate can register through the Gyeonggi FTA Business Center’s website, www.ggfta.or.kr.

Amazon operates online marketplaces in 12 countries, and the Amazon global sales team supports Korean companies in the provision of services to more than 300,000,000 people in 185 countries.
