Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art selected 21 emerging young artists who will lead the future of Korean art through the 2017 Gyeonggi Young Artists Contest following the 2016 contest and added their latest works to the collections of the museum. Starting from this year, the exhibition of the contest winners’ works will be displayed to visitors under the title “Gyeonggi Art Prism,” which symbolizes young artists in Gyeonggi Province who refract and disperse various themes in new ways and languages, expressing those themes in their works like a prism does with light.

We are pleased that the works of these young promising artists that illustrate contemporary Korean art have become part of the collection of the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art as the assets of residents. It is also expected that this exhibition will serve as an opportunity for young and talented artists of Gyeonggi Province to more actively advance into international art circles and realize meaningful accomplishments.
