Instead of using medical bands coated with sticky substances, this unique dressing tem uses liquid urethane thatsprayed onto the surface of wounds,forms a highly elastic protective shield.

Article 2. Traditional Crafts Exhibition of Gyeonggi Province (0326-1)

An exhibitionsales event for the high-quality traditional crafts of Gyeonggi Province was opened on the 25th of March for five-days running at the AK Plaza in Seongnam (성남) City. Our reporter was there.

This exhibition featuresquality traditional Korean handicrafts that attract a lot of interest among visitors to this high-end department store in the bustling city center.

A total of 250 crafts in six categories including ceramicswoodenware are on display at this exhibition.

Article 3. Psychological Consultation at a Public Service Center (0327-)

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government signed an agreement with consultation service organizations to open a Psychological TherapyConsultation Service for provincial residents. The service will be operated at the Public Service Center in Suwon (수원)Station.

Kim has been sufferingdepression since he lost his job. It wasaccident that he found out that psychological consultation services are being offered at the Public Service Center.

3) 5 Organizations Participates in Consultation Services
Five organizations will provide psychological consultation service once a week in five different categories taking turns every day.

The categories of consultation will consist of religious mentoring, senior issues, multicultural issues, mental health,youth consultations.

Article 4. Gyeonggi Residents Proven Healthier in 2012 (0325-1)

The health of Gyeonggi Province residents generally improved in 2012, compared to the previous year. A Gnews-Plus reporter examined the details.

1) 2012 Community Health Survey
The Gyeonggi provincial administration published the results of the 2012 Community Health Survey.
2) Drinking HabitDepression Decreased

According to this survey, the number of residents who used alcoholic drink more than once a month decreased0.3 percent59.4 percent in 2011,the number of residents who experienced depression also decreased0.7 percent5.5 percent.
3) Non-smoker RateWalk Exercise Increased
The survey also revealed that non-smoker rates increased0.3 percentwalk exercise1.8 percent, indicating increased awareness of the necessity of exercise for better health. It was also found that residents in southern parts of the province are healthier than- those in northern parts.

The smoker rate was lowest in Gwacheon (과천) with 15.5 percent, Bucheon (부천)Dongducheon (동두천) were among the highest.

13 percent of the residents in Gwangmyong (광명)Paldal-gu (팔달구) in Suwon (수원) engage in regular exercise, showing the lowest rates of physical exercise. However, in Yangpyeong (양평) CountyWonmi-gu (원미구) in Bucheon (부천), rates were 25 percent.

Article 5. Compulsive Smart Phone Usage Prevention Education (0326-3)

Excessive, habitual use of smart-phonesyouth has become a social problem in Korea. Some of them are showing the symptoms characteristic of addictive behaviors.

Twenty eight percent of young smart-phone s in Korea are known to spend more than three hours a day using their phones.

“It interferes with normal life, but I can’t help looking at it, even during the school classes.”

“I was an avid Facebook . If I use it on a smart-phone, I will probably spend too much time doing it. So, I decided to use a feature phone.”
Using a feature phone instead of a smart-phone may be a smart move for student.
In order to prevent youthbecoming addicted to smart-phones, the Gyeonggi Women’s Development Center began operating a ‘smart phone addiction prevention education program’, named “Lemon Class”.
3) Choi Woo-soon / Internet Addiction Treatment Center
“Itimportant to help youths change their behavior so that they can put down their smart phone themselves, to stop playing individually with gamesmessenger applications,spend more time together.”
This program consists of a one-hour class leda visiting specialist at a school that applied for this education. The Women’s Development Center also provides one-on-one mentoring programs for pathologic addicts as well as therapeutic programs using artmusic.

“We offer two types of Lemon Class; Internet Lemon ClassSmart-phone Lemon Class. We plan to conduct 2,000 visiting classes covering 61,000 students this year.”

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government launched a reading campaign, termed “Give Me Another Five Minutes”, to promote reading habits among children. Our reporter was at the campaign site.

1) Reading Campaign, “Give Me Another Five Minutes”
In this primary school in Gunpo (군포), various events are held to help children learn the importance of reading. These events are being held as part of the provincial reading campaign. The name of the campaign stemswhat a famous Korean patriot who spoke the words when he was called out of his prison cellthe Japanese for his ution- he was reading a book.
2) Jang Yoon-suo / Primary School 4th Grader
“We played Ahn Joong-geun. I think I will study hard,read as many books as him.”
According to a survey, one in every three persons in Gyeonggi Province doesread more than a book a year. Recognizing the necessity for the promotion of reading habits among residents, the Gyeonggi Provincial administration launched a reading campaign that also includes mobile reading content.

“We are introducing a policy that would allow individuals to be able to access reading material in any situation.”
Using a mobile device, one canto read a book strolling in a park or waiting for a bus. Ittruly the creation of a ubiquitous reading environment. The Gyeonggi provincial administration plans to expand the reading contentintroducing new materials including lectures in human science subjects.

Article 7. Peace Tree Planting (0328-2) ayahr

A tree-planting event was held in the farthest northern villages of Gyeonggi Province as a symbolic event for peaceunification. Our reporter was there.

1) Unification Village, Paju City (March 28th)
Thisthe northernmost village in Gyeonggi Province,civilian passages are strictly controlled,whichaptly named – Unification Village. Today, villagerspeople of North Korean origin are planting treeswishing for peaceunification.
2) 300 Displaced North Korean Residents Participated
A total of twenty-four-thousand trees were plantedparticipants, which included three hundred individuals who left their homes in North Korea.
