The Gyeonggi Provincial Government signed an MOU for the inauguration of a junior baseball team consisting of primary schoolchildren. Together with the Korea Securities Depository, Yangju (양주) City,the Yang Joon-hyuk (양준혁) Baseball Foundation, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government signed an agreement at the provincial government complex for cooperation in creating a junior baseball team which will be based in northern Gyeonggi Province.

Under this agreement, Gyeonggi Province will take charge of the recruitment of team membersthe provision of administrative support, the Korea Securities Depository will sponsor the establishmentoperation of the team. 6) MOU for Korea’s 10th Professional Baseball Team / (November 6th)
Earlier last month, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it would Korea’s tenth professional baseball team in Suwon,signed an MOU with Suwon (수원) CityKorea Telecom. However, this plan has been postponedthe Korea Baseball Organization due to a number of difficulties including player scouting.

2) Gyeonggi Shares Hospital Management Information
For the first time in Korea, Gyeonggi Province launched the Global Hospital Management Academy to share hospital management information in such areas as hospital administrationpatient management with foreign medical organizations.

“Mongolian hospital personnel visited our hospitallearned about our tems in operation.”
There are a number of public hospitals in Mongolia, but most are experiencing difficulties in managing patients due to hospital operation inefficiencies. During their visit to hospitals in Gyeonggi Province, the Mongolian medical specialists were able to identifystudy tems applicable to their hospitals.

“We are pleased to have had an opportunity to participate in the Hospital Management Academy of Gyeonggi Province. We plan to apply the tems that we learned here to our hospital.”
Gyeonggi Province has established cooperative medical relations with four nations including RussiaKazakhstan. Such cooperative endeavors will also new opportunities to induce foreign patients to the province as well as to secure deals in hospital construction projects.
Gyeonggi Province plans to expand the range of nations in which to promote participation in the provincial hospital management academy.

An on-site senior provincial officials meeting, chairedGyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-soo, (김문수) was held aboard a ship on the Yellow Sea. When it last convened, the meeting was held on a subway train.

1) Visiting Senior Officials Meeting on Yellow Sea (December 11th)
This visiting senior officials meeting was held on December 11th offshore of the Gyeonggi Province cities of Ansan (안산)Hwaseong (화성) aboard the provincial administrative supervisory ship Gyeonggi Bada (경기바다). The meeting was held to discuss west coast developmentthe perspective of the sea towards the land instead ofa land-orientated perspective towards the sea.
2) 1st Session: Ipado Island Development for Tourism
In the morning, during the first session of the meeting, the chairman of the Gyeonggi Ceramic Foundation delivered a briefing on the Ipa (입파) Island Development Project the vessel travelledJeongok (전곡) Port to Ipa (입파) Island. This projectone of five Yellow Sea island tourism projects of the province,it involved the purchase of the islandthe Korea Forest Service for development as a tourist resort.
3) 2nd Session: Gyeonggi Bay Development Strategies
The second session of the meeting that followed in the afternoon was devoted to a discussion of strategies for Gyeonggi Bay development in preparation for the coming pan-Yellow Sea economic era

“We will designate the west coast as a special tourism zonedevise comprehensive west coast development strategies. This meeting brings us one step further to the formation of effective strategies.”
The senior Gyeonggi officials, ledGovernor Kim Moon-soo (김문수), also visited the Ocean Fragrance Forest Park in Ansan (안산) City to view landscaping work progress, as well as Jeongok (전곡) Port, Ipa (입파) IslandGukhwa (국화) Island to have informal talks with residents.
A Gyeonggi Province spokesperson said that these meetings on the sealand provided useful insights that will help the provincial government formulate Yellow Sea island development plans.

4) ‘Offline Tagging Program’
This exhibition programcomplete when offline taggingadded on-sitethe visitors. Through viewer participation, this exhibition seeks to start a new exhibition culture in which viewersonly appreciate the artwork but are also able to share thoughts with other viewers.
5) Kim Ji-hee / Curator of the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art
“We designed this exhibition to allow viewers to have the pleasure of sharing thoughts about the displayed artwork with others.”
This exhibition with viewer participation will run until March 3rd next year.

At this Asia Publication CultureInformation Center in Paju (파주) Bookcity, approximately 200 children are intently working together in many small groups. They arereading books as one might expect, but are instead ‘making’ them.

1) Sosa New Town
Since the ambitious Sosa (소사) New Town Project was launched in 2009, few changes have been made in the designated development area. With a few old buildingsbeen replacednew ones, this areaa new town in name only. Realizing that thereno positive outlook for any progress in development under the economic standstill in the real estateconstruction sectors, the members of the resident cooperative recently opted for the self-dissolution of their organization. However, even the dissolution of the cooperative doesfree the residentsthe debtinvested costs that they owe to developers for funds that have already been spent for their own redevelopmentreconstruction works.
2) Gyeonggi Province Announces Breakthrough Strategies for New Towns
In a briefing that followed the announcement of the new strategies, a representative of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government explained a new measure that involves the provision of monetary support for up to 70% of invested costs in those areas in which resident cooperatives have been formulated butredevelopmentreconstruction projects were later abandoned, as in the case of Sosa (소사) New Town.

According to the new policy, the provision of invested cost support will be decidedthe city or county administration,a smaller portion of the support will also be sharedthe provincial government. The ideathat local governments will take responsibility for the costs incurredthe residents for projects that were originally initiatedthe local government. Gyeonggi Province also plans to promote passage of a bill through the Korean National Assembly that will provide a statutory basis for supportthe central government in this matter.
