A rose version of a qualifying competition for international debut took place at the Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Research & Extension Services.

The 7th Rose Show of Gyeonggi Province featured a large number of new rose breedstwo-tone varieties to thornless beauties.
2) Selection of Breeds for Export
Some of these new breeds will be introduced to overseas markets. These roses were developed at the Gyeonggi Province Agricultural ResearchExtension Servicesare now under close scrutinythe judges.

Last year alone, over 430,000 roses representing a number of new breeds were exported to 15 countries, including the Netherlands, Canadathe Republic of Ecuador, after they were ed at the rose show. Among 20,000 new rose breeds, 300 have been initially ed this year for unveiling at this rose show.

5) Gyeonggi Province Targets Export of 1 Million New Roses This Year
The five ed new rose breeds will then be introduced for export to overseas markets after they are provided with new names. According to a Gyeonggi Province official, rose exports are expected to reach the one million mark this year.

The Korean horticultural industry has been spending KRW3.8 billion annually in royalty payments for overseas rose breeds. The export of local breeds willonly reduce such royalty payments but also increase the income of Korean floriculturists.

Earlier this year, Gyeonggi Province announced its support policy for the homeless. However, many homeless individuals lost their legal grounds for eligibility for public support programs simply because they dohave registered addresses, leaving them legally invisible. Itfor this reason that the resident registration restitution service was conceivedGyeonggi Province. This service has now become a regular part of the work of the Gyeonggi Homeless Center. A homeless man who once received the Hwarang (화랑) Order of Military Merit recently found a new life as his honorable status was restored when his resident registration was restituted.

The Suwon Station concourse has been the home for Han Young-soo (한영수) since 2006. Recently, he was provided with a residenceGyeonggi Province after his resident registration together with his priority rights as a holder of a prestigious military honor were restituted.

4) Comprehensive Support Policies for HomelessGyeonggi Province (February 2012)
Since the announcement of the Comprehensive Support Policies for the Homeless in February this year, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government has been implementing a number of employmenthousing service programs for homeless individuals to help them achieve economic independence.

This year’s job fair saw participation45 enterprises of the province. Each company opened a separate booth for employment consultationsinterviews.

3) 430 Individuals with Disabilities Participated
A total of 430 individuals with disabilities participated in job interviews for 197 positions, of which 33 were employed on the spot279 were scheduled for secondary interviews.

Since most of the vacancies featured during this job fair specified applicants in their 20s to 40s, more consideration for aged applicants seems necessary.

To address this problem, Gyeonggi Province opened a new medical consultation center for atopyasthma at the Seoul National University Hospital in Seongnam (성남) City.

Jeong Woo-sang83 years oldhas been sufferingasthma for the past five years. Being ignorant of the illness, he has been using a number of different hospitals as well as various folk remedies. Since he began using the consultation service at the Gyeonggi Atopy•Asthma Education Information Center, he has gained a firm grip on his symptomsis doing well with the treatment most appropriate for him.

This center has been effectively playing the role of a medical supervisor for allergic disease patients.

The number of victims of fraudulent door-to-door salesincreasing rapidly in Korea. Consumers are required to be extra wary of the deceptive sales tactics of doorstep salespeople, especially when sales conditions such as prices seem too good to be true.
