3) Gyeonggi Became Overall Winner of National Games 10th Consecutive Year
For the first time in 22 years, Gyeonggi Province hosted the annual Korean National Games. The provincial athletic team achieved impressive resultswinning the overall national championship for a 10th consecutive year with 160 gold, 155 silver165 bronze medals. The province was also highly praisednational sports personagesspecialists for the excellent organizationoperation of the national games as well as for the high standard of sports infrastructure in the province.

Even with such luxurious items as blankets, the below-freezing temperatures of winter are hard to beat, especially at night. Gyeonggi Province opened a temporary shelter for the homeless next to Suwon Station to help them endure the cold of winter.

There were 384 homeless people living without homes in Gyeonggi Province, according to statistics in October. Without proper accommodations, the bitter cold of winter threatensonly their comfort but also their lives.
2) Dream Shelter / Suwon Station (December 14th)
Gyeonggi Province built a temporary shelter – named the “Dream Shelter” – next to Suwon (수원) Station for the homeless,has spent KRW 200 million to relocate the homelessSuwon Station to this shelter. This 211-square-meter shelter features sleeping facilities for 30 persons as well as livingkitchen facilities.

This shelter will provide temporary housing for homeless peoplewill stay openyear round. Homeless individuals are free to comego at any time.
