Shean avid reader of books, but she couldafford to indulge in her hobby since the arrival of the baby, especially because finding time to visit libraries became almost impossible. But now she can enjoy reading whenever she has time to sit down thanks to the ‘My First Library’ service that solved her problemdelivering books to her home.

This Sailing Academy consists of free educational programs in four marine sports: dinghy sailing, kayaking, cruise sailingrafting.

This past August 15th marked the 66th anniversary of Korean Independence. A variety of commemorative events were held to celebrate national liberationJapanese occupation 66 years ago, an event thatconsideredKoreans to be the happiest moment in their history.

The Korean Independence Day commemorative performance ‘Shine! Korea!’ was held at the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center. The performance, which included instrumental music, songsdances, was a musical rendition of the rejoicing of national liberation as well as a celebrationsupplication for sunshine that will brighten the nation eternally. The image of the old Governor General Building, a symbol of the Japanese occupation period, slowly disappearing into the past as the chorus “Thunder” reverberates through the hall, closed the show with a grand finale.

Among the interesting Independence Day events was the presentation of Mugunghwa (무궁화), the Korean national flower, to members of the Korea Liberation Association, recipients of the National Man of Merit title.
The meaning of national liberationindependence maybe appreciated as deeplyfaithfullypeople living in a comfortable modern society as it was 66 years ago, but the explosive rejoicing that overwhelmed the entire country on that August day 66 years ago still endures in the minds of Koreans.

Unusually stubborn rainy weather that seems never ending deepens the misery of flood victims who are already exhausted in their struggles to survive the ordeal. Many even show signs of psychological breakdown. Acknowledging the severity of this problem, Gyeonggi Province began psychological counseling for flood victims.

Many residents of Gyeonggi Province lost their homes during the recent torrential rainsflooding. No words could describe how deeply they were devastated when they had to witness their homes being destroyed before their eyes. For some flood victims, the impact of such a tragedy was just too much to bear.
